Previous view was looking up from the cutting to the left. This is the road level looking west. Note the stone pillars which are the same as the one at Heanor Midland station site.
Only 18 years after the Ripley passenger service was extended from Heanor to Langley Mill, electric tramcars started growling over the bridge and up Heanor Hill in the background. They were frequent, clean and went straight through the hilly built-up areas the railway skirted. Rail passenger services under the bridge would end with the 1926 General Strike just 13 years later.
