Newcastle-under-Lyme station site, looking south-east towards Stoke-on-Trent. The station was in a cutting which is now infilled and landscaped. The present-day car park fills the cutting where the "main" loop line, having emerged from Hartshill tunnel heading left-to-right, swung towards us under a bridge on the A53 road and entered the station. I am not sure whether the stone wall is the original parapet, it looks as though it may have been rebuilt after demolition of the bridge. Borough Arms Hotel still guards the site from across the A53.
